Taylor received my hip fracture patient from Med Surg to Step Down late night due to atrial fibrillation with rapid response. Her excellent evaluation picked up a cool foot on the operative side. She got a popliteal pulse but nothing in the foot. She got the Doppler evaluation, also negative. She was instrumental in contacting non-invasive studies for evaluation of venous and arterial patency in the leg. This identified a complete popliteal artery block.
The result of her exceptional care was a successful emergent de-clotting of the leg. Taylor really gets most of the congratulations for saving this leg. Because of her quick, thorough assessment, escalation, and interventions. Taylor saved her patient's leg!
