July 2021 Honoree
Taylor Miller, BSN, RN
Taylor Miller provided a long-term patient closure before he was finally being discharged. Long inpatient stays have become more common during the COVID19 pandemic, and Taylor understood how important it was for her patient to say goodbye at the end of his stay, so she found a way to let a patient see all the staff who helped him recover. Taylor knew she couldn’t let the patient just walk down to MICU and wasn’t willing to let the patient leave without goodbyes. By reaching out to the transport company picking up the patient, the nurse manager, and others, Taylor coordinated a safe, socially distant goodbye for the patient and MICU staff! The look of joy on the staff's faces and the happy tears cried when the patient left for rehab were worth all the work.
Thank you, Taylor, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
