We (me, my mother and sister) first met Taylor at the tail end of an incredibly long day waiting to hear about my dad's quadruple bypass surgery. When she came out to talk to us in the 2E waiting area, we all immediately felt at ease. She came out to let us know that he'd be coming out of the OR soon and that she would be his Nurse. She so compassionate and understanding with all of the questions we had and told us that she would come to get us when we were able to see him.
After over 8 hours in surgery, it was a scary sight, but again, Taylor was so caring to us (especially me who almost passed out) but was also so clearly skilled and confident in her job, it definitely brought us comfort knowing that he was in great and capable hands. That night was probably the first solid amount of sleep that my mom was finally able to have in about a week, thanks to Taylor!
Now, to tell you how fantastic she was with my dad! Taylor knew everything that had transpired during my dad's surgery and knew it was rough. But she had every confidence that his care team would get him to where he needed to be but even so, she was impressed with how quickly he was progressing. She found the perfect mix of support and encouragement when interacting with him. I think my favorite moment between them was one of the nights she was going off shift. She was giving report but then came back into his room to say bye for the night and my dad said goodbye too and reached over to squeeze her hand and she said, "Have no fear, I'll be back to see you in 12 short hours!" That was the first true smile that I had seen on his face in days.
Needless to say, to us, Taylor is a Rockstar, Superhero, and Angel, all rolled into one pretty amazing human being! We are beyond blessed to have crossed paths with her and will be eternally grateful. Thank you again for everything, Taylor!
