The whole time she was calming and efficiently monitoring the more junior nurse through what could have been a chaotic situation.
Taylor has a long history of stepping up to help us teach our patients, and yesterday was no different. A newer nurse came on shift and was assigned a laboring patient when the decision was made to do a c-section. Taylor volunteered to come to the OR as well as assist with whatever she could. This ended up being a very complex surgery with over 2L of blood loss. The entire surgical team was relieved when Taylor was there to administer uterotonics, communicate with the charge nurse and the rest of the team to get blood, all while maintaining a qualitative blood loss total to allow us to properly resuscitate. The whole time she was calming and efficiently monitoring the more junior nurse through what could have been a chaotic situation. Taylor has been nominated for this award before but has never won. I can't think of anyone more deserving- we need more teammates like Taylor for a well function unit.
