I advised that I was tired and didn’t hold much hope for my future. She advised that she could see that I was a fighter and that I needed to continue fighting and not give up.
Nurses, what would we do without them? However, occasionally, you find a nurse that goes above and beyond expectations. Such is what I encountered during my stay at Ludington Hospital. I was hospitalized in December and was then transferred to Blodgett Hospital. I was admitted with Positive Covid and Covid Double Pneumonia with fluid around the lungs. Not a good problem to have. During my stay, I had several good nurses, but one stood out above the rest. She did this when I was having a very bad day due to my condition and my worrying about my future health problems. You see, I was first admitted with this condition in October. Since then, I have been in the hospital 6 times for the same problem, and each time, it has gotten worse. At this point, I was ready to give up. My nurse saw what I was going through, and she started to talk to me. I advised that I was tired and didn’t hold much hope for my future. She advised that she could see that I was a fighter and that I needed to continue fighting and not give up. She talked, and I listened. She was very understanding and could see what I was thinking as she talked. She was able to cheer me up and made me want to continue fighting this condition. All in all, she spent about 30 minutes with me, talking to me about looking at things from a positive angle. It really helped me at that time. Therefore, it is my opinion that she is a true DAISY Nurse. After I was transferred to Blodgett Hospital and after undergoing many different tests, it was determined that I was a terminal patient as there was nothing more that could be done to treat my condition. It is just that Covid will claim another person.
