Taylor Scofield, RN Navigator
I have been a nurse for over 35 years. In those years, I have witnessed some of the very best nurses in this field. What moves me so much at my age now is to witness a younger RN in their role, especially when they are amazing at what they do and yet may not realize the impact they have on nursing as a whole.
Taylor is one of the very best nurses I have ever known in my career in health care. I have had the pleasure of listening to her talk to her patients as we share an office in the Cancer Pavilion. She is who every patient would want, and who every patient deserves. She is so very kind, empathetic, and tenderhearted. Honestly, listening to her talk to her patients many times has brought me to tears without her knowing. All I can think is that the patient has no idea they have one of the best.
Taylor not only exudes kindness, but she is so knowledgeable and one of the most team-focused peers. She does not know how to say no, and will help absolutely anyone, at any time. As patients walk through the doors of the Cancer Pavilion with significant anxiety and fear, she is the one who settles them, comforts them, and walks them through extremely terrifying surgeries and their initial journey with a cancer diagnosis.
She deserves a DAISY Award in every way. She is my Florence Nightingale, and one of the biggest shining stars. Any patient who is in her path is so very lucky to have her. She is a blessing to this occupation and to the lives of each patient she crosses paths with.
I nominated her for a DAISY Award because nurses like her are needed, hoped for, and don't get the recognition they deserve. It is the people who see them and hear them at ground zero. She reminds me every day why I would choose this career over and over.
