She is inquisitive, asks questions, and constantly wants to learn. In addition, her compassion for her patients is second to none.
There are numerous reasons why I believe Taylor is a DAISY Nurse. First and foremost, she has proven to be an extremely hard-working and competent nurse. On a daily basis, she seems to go above and beyond what is required or expected of her as an ED nurse. It seems like she is constantly tackling several tasks at once effortlessly and efficiently. She works tirelessly to ensure that the ED is running smoothly, patients are triaged appropriately, and most importantly, sick patients are taken care of right away.

At the bedside, it is evident what a tremendously skilled nurse she is. It seems like no task is too big for her, whether it's putting in an IV on a very difficult patient, ensuring the physician has everything at the bedside for a procedure, discussing a patient's medical treatment with them or their family, or talking to various physicians about a patient’s care. She is extremely good at knowing what a patient needs and can identify what patient is sick and requires urgent/emergent attention. She not only has great technical skills but clearly has an intuition about sick patients. I would certainly want her to take care of my loved ones.

Every time I have ever seen a code blue in the ED, Taylor is the first one in the room and the last to leave. She stays calm in high-stress situations and appears to even excel in them. She is inquisitive, asks questions, and constantly wants to learn. In addition, her compassion for her patients is second to none. During one particularly challenging central line placement on an awake patient, with extremely difficult anatomy, including severe kyphoscoliosis, she stays in the room for the entire lengthy procedure, providing comfort to the patient, walking her through each step, holding her hand, and reassuring her.

During another case, a woman with COVID came in with impending respiratory failure and Taylor was in the room for the entire goals of care discussion, comforting the patient and tending to her needs. Nurses have an extremely difficult job, that is often thankless, and sometimes even dangerous, and I have witnessed all of those scenarios with Taylor, yet she still continues to do her job extremely well with an amazing attitude, and a constant smile on her face. For all the reasons above, make Taylor a true DAISY Nurse.
