We would like to commend Taylor Thorpe for her extraordinary care and dedication to our son. On her very first day working with him. From the moment she arrived, she demonstrated the kind of compassion, patience, and professionalism that goes far beyond what one might expect from a new nurse.

Our son had a very difficult day, and we were concerned about abnormal discharge from his J-tube. Having experienced a serious setback in the past, we feared that going overnight without feeds could lead to dangerous electrolyte imbalances and a possible return to the PICU. Taylor immediately took the time to listen to our concerns, validate our fears, and take them seriously. She didn’t just offer reassurance; she took action. Despite it being her first day, Taylor tirelessly worked to coordinate with multiple departments, rallying the team to make sure the procedure was completed on the same day. Where others told us it would take at least another day to get it done, Taylor made it her mission to ensure our son’s care plan was executed quickly and efficiently, keeping him safe and out of the PICU.

Beyond her clinical expertise, what stood out most was her genuine empathy. She worked diligently to keep our son as comfortable as possible, ensuring he felt at ease during an incredibly stressful time for us. Her calm and caring presence was exactly what we needed. Taylor’s actions on that day were a true reflection of the values that the DAISY Award represents: extraordinary care, exceptional teamwork, and unwavering dedication to patients and their families. We are beyond grateful for her efforts and the positive impact she made during such a challenging time for our family. We cannot thank her enough for going above and beyond.

Thank you, Taylor, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
