My son had brain surgery. We were scared, and my son was in pain and was feeling nervous about being displaced from his home and in a strange environment. He was on day 5 in the PICU and was feeling itchy and wanted to shower. He wasn’t allowed to go shower since he had an A-line and 2 IVs. Then, we had the pleasure of meeting Taylor Vozza, our shining light. The minute she came in that Sunday evening, she was pleasant, sweet, full of energy and confidence. As a nurse myself, I felt the love coming out of her and the immediate comfort and contentment on my child’s face. She said, “OK, you can’t go to the shower, so we will bring the shower to you.” She washed him so clean with warm water, put a bucket under his head, and washed his hair as if he were in a hair salon. She did it with such ease, care, and love.

Every minute, every moment we had her, we were so happy and felt like we were home. She was so attentive and quiet throughout the night and did his hourly blood without even waking him up! Taylor is a fantastic professional with a caring heart and lots of love for everyone. She embodies every aspect of nursing and humanity. We hope she is recognized for going above and beyond and really and truly caring and expressing love with just her simple smile. We need more individuals like Taylor Vozza in healthcare.
