My adult son was admitted into the hospital for numerous reasons; suicide watch, drug overdoses, psychiatric issues, and a neglected PICC line that was necessary for a staph infection due to a gunshot wound infection. He was a mess. Nurse Ted not only applied the necessary medical treatments in the most professional, skilled manner, he also treated my son with respect and compassion and assisted in leading him out of his fuzzy, spiraling out of control state.
Nurse Ted did not treat him like he was a druggie and talk down to him, but quite the opposite. Nurse Ted was positive, honest, sincere and encouraging. My son was resistant to drug rehabilitation and denied having a problem, yet Nurse Ted spent the time needed to encourage him to get the help he needed. My son left the hospital and went into a 30-day inpatient treatment facility. He has now been clean and sober for 60 days. In one of my son's stories on recovery, he referred to "Nurse Ted" as an angel and attributed his steps to recovery to Ted. He definitely was a blessing for us and our family.
