Telisha stands out and I truly wish to thank her for her professionalism and friendly demeanor which helped my family through a difficult experience.
My elderly mother had a fall. There were no obvious injuries but we thought she may have bumped her head so we transported her to the ER. All tests came back showing no concerns and we were starting the discharge process when Mom had a seizure. Breathing became a problem so they were forced to intubate her and we were admitted to ICU. I was terrified. I thought we were headed home and suddenly Mom looked near death. Our nurse was Telisha. She was such a blessing. She explained everything so clearly. She was patient and answered every question we had. She treated Mom with dignity and respect. She talked to Mom throughout the process even when Mom was sedated.
She took care of me just as much as she cared for Mom. She made sure I had what I needed. She recognized I needed sleep after a very long day and night in the hospital and encouraged me to sleep. She brought me a cot, made my bed, and ensured me she would wake me if there were any changes. I trusted her so I was easily able to sleep peacefully. When it was time to remove the breathing tube, again I was terrified. She talked me through the process and helped me work through my fear. Mom is recovering on another floor of the hospital now. The nursing care throughout the process has been stellar. I would love to recognize many, however, Telisha stands out and I truly wish to thank her for her professionalism and friendly demeanor which helped my family through a difficult experience. Thank you, Telisha! And thank you to the other wonderful staff of West Georgia WellStar!
Note: This is Telisha's 2nd DAISY Award!
