Telisha McBride 2026, RN
Telisha was my sister’s hospice nurse. My sister was very unsure about getting one, and obviously our family was very nervous about bringing someone in, but it was the best decision we could have made because of our experience with Telisha.
She was so attentive not only to my sister but to our whole family. Making sure we all ate and my sister was as comfortable as she could be. The day of my sister’s passing, Telisha stayed all day! We knew my sister would be passing at some point that day, but Telisha did not rush the process-she encouraged us to talk to her, turn on her favorite music, and she hugged and prayed over our family like we were her own.
She had made a lasting imprint on our hearts forever and in a way became a part of our family. It didn’t stop there-she stopped by my sister’s funeral embracing our whole family and crying with us. Telisha made the comment, “I only knew her for three days, and I already miss her.” She has a heart of gold and being a hospice nurse is not just her job but her calling.
She is selfless. We even had to remind her to eat! As a family, we truly believe the Lord sent her to us to make our sister’s journey to heaven smooth and beautiful. We nicknamed her “our angel” because I’m not convinced that she’s not an angel here walking on earth. If anyone deserves this award, it’s our angel, Telisha.
