Even though dad was not awake to communicate with her, she would talk to him and tell him exactly what she was doing when she gave him any medication.
My 91-year-old dad had a stroke and was airlifted to Wellstar Roswell, where he was put in the Neuro ICU. It was decided a week and a half later to transfer Dad back to Spalding Wellstar to continue his care since he was somewhat stable. When I arrived at the Griffin Hospital on Saturday at the ICU, I met Temi, the nurse who was attending to my dad. She was very attentive to Dad. Even though dad was not awake to communicate with her, she would talk to him and tell him exactly what she was doing when she gave him any medication. She would explain to me what she was doing, and if I had questions, she was so nice and would explain everything to me. She would at times ask if I needed anything, like water, ice, etc. She wasn't just taking care of Dad; she was also looking out for his family during this very difficult time. She gave hugs that were very much needed and appreciated not only to me but to my brothers. I feel like you have to have a calling to do what she does there. She is very smart, has compassion and empathy not only for her patients but also for their loved ones. I can't say enough how much I feel like she deserves to be recognized for the excellent care Dad received. It was decided that Dad was not going to be able to recover from his stroke. He was transferred to hospice and passed.
