He was so humble and kind and very attentive. He truly made the experience so much less scary for my child.
Our night nurse was amazing. My child was admitted late in the evening and this nurse did a great job at making us feel comfortable. Even when the cafeteria brought my child’s dinner and forgot my food this nurse offered to go down and get me something so I wouldn't have to leave my child’s side. The IV team had to come and do an IV with the help of Ultrasound which as you know can be rough, but this nurse never left my child’s side, this nurse cracked jokes, and when my child started to cry because they were having a hard time finding the vein this nurse quickly whipped out these colorful balls and started juggling for my son. When it came time to administer meds and flush the IV, of course, the baby got upset again but that did not phase this nurse, he again got down to my child’s level and started beatboxing! He made everything a game and would make everything animated with plane noises and truck sounds followed by a gentle tickle he even allowed my child to "help" wipe the IV port clean with an alcohol wipe which he loved. He was so humble and kind and very attentive. He truly made the experience so much less scary for my child who due to health is unfortunately in the hospital quite often. My child would be afraid if any medical personnel walked in the room but not with this nurse, we would actually be happy to see him. I feel that he without a doubt deserves this award. Having a child with asthma is hard enough, but the memory and impression he left with us is something we will not soon forget.
