Patient education and providing discharge instructions is highly important and performed at a high level by Tena. She instills the same importance in others to ensure they can perform independently and not struggle. The vulnerable patients appreciate the care and consideration Tena provides, it makes a difference to their visit to have Tena lead their treatment. Positive comments are provided on how Tena will address problems on missing medical charts or delay in medication from pharmacy. Professionalism and remaining positive are Tena's strong points. She is a role model, she remains optimistic and expresses the problem clearly and brings a solution for the problem. Once the corrective actions are understood, the team can move forward with implementing the changes. She has submitted IFI's that have resulted in positive change for the division. She is the lead on the commit to improve project, she collaborates with pharmacy, medical and education team as appropriate to ensure patient flow is streamlined and only value added steps are followed. This project is saving time and funds for the organization, patient experience will remain positive because the treatment is provided without needless delays. Tena understands the importance of empowering staff and ensuring their voices are heard. The staff understands their roles and commitment to patient safety and quality. With Tena's lead, the oncology unit has outperformed in the quality indicators. As the appointed PICC line nurse for the unit, this advance knowledge is highly regarded by the staff. When patients arrive with complications with their central line, Tena is automatically approached to deal with the concerns. Tena and other selected staff took the lead to prepare the new Infusion center as a super user, this resulted in staff becoming familiar with the high level technology present in the clinic. Her energy moves staff to give their best and continue to provide culturally appropriate high level care. Tena is a true DAISY Nurse.
