There was a consult for Psychiatry on the OB unit, but before the Psychiatric, NP could get to OB to evaluate the patient, the patient was having managing her symptoms. When Teresa was able to get to the unit she helped talk with the patient, hospitalist, OBGYN and the nurses to determine the best plan to keep the patient, staff and other patients on the unit safe. OB staff are not very familiar with acute psych patients' and needed guidance until the patient could be safely discharged to the Behavioral Health Unit. Teresa explained that she was cancelling appointments with other clients so she could stay on the OB unit until the patient was transferred. Teresa assisted the OBGYN in completed the required court documents and stayed on OB until the patient was transferred hours later. As a provider Teresa went above and beyond to offer support, expertise, and to ensure safety of everyone involved. Teresa is a valuable asset to the community and our hospital!
