Kim took the time to discuss in detail the procedure, its benefits, and the processes involved with the patient and family.
A patient came in for a repeat scheduled procedure. This individual has been here numerous times for the same procedure, and we heard this time they had recently lost 90lbs over approx. 3 months. They looked cachectic and seemed withdrawn. As we were discussing the case, Kim suggested the patient get a different procedure. As we were all in agreement, we asked if this could be an option for the patient to get the nourishment needed. It was agreeable to the great need if the family agreed. Kim took the time to discuss in detail the procedure, its benefits, and the processes involved with the patient and family. Everyone agreed to the plan, and it was executed. The ARNP involved was notified in order to set up home care feedings. Checking on the patient the next day revealed good results and relief from the family that their loved one was well taken care of. Accolades go to Kim for being a huge patient advocate and potentially even saving this patient’s life!
