Teresa, right from the beginning, made me feel so comfortable.
Teresa Miles was one of the first nurses I had for my infusions. I had a UTI, and for some reason, a few weeks later, the infection landed in my left knee. I had a knee replacement nearly two years ago. So, I had to have an antibiotic infusion every day for 6 weeks. I had been really sick for two months, and I was really nervous about doing the infusions every day and worried about the side effects.
Teresa, right from the beginning, made me feel so comfortable. She explained how the PICC line worked and how the infusions would help me get better. She said we will take good care of you while you are here. She always had a smile on her face and was very positive. I knew her daughter at an elementary school where I worked as a secretary years ago. We both recognized each other, and she always asked about my family and how long I had been retired.
Teresa is very good at her profession as a nurse. She knew I wanted to go to church on one Sunday, and she talked to the nurse who was scheduled for that Sunday. As a result, the nurse agreed to come in a half hour earlier so I could get my infusion and make it to church. Having an infection was an extremely hard experience for me. Having Teresa and the other nurses at Logan Regional Hospital made it a bearable experience.
I created a great friendship with Teresa and the other nurses. When I had to go into the hospital every day, it was getting hard. I remember crying on the way home one day because I was getting very discouraged. Finally, after I was off the hard medication, I could drive to the hospital by myself. The first time I was able to drive into the infusion by myself after I was done, I stayed in Logan for three hours looking and shopping around, and it felt so good!
Teresa and the other nurses were so encouraging, telling me how well I was doing and that they would help me make it through the day. With the friendships I was making with Teresa and the other nurses, I was looking forward to seeing them again.
Thanks, Teresa, for being such a great person and nurse who helped me get through a difficult situation.
