I was hospitalized for 6 days in November. Teresa was my nurse sometime during my stay. I was having a very busy day with tests etc., I was not doing well or feeling well at all. She was very attentive and understanding. Very caring. She was very good to me and I certainly appreciated her attention. She was also my discharge nurse. She was very informative and thorough. She was always pleasant & helpful. I appreciated her.

On the worst day of my life, Teresa took the time to listen, to walk and to talk to me about what it meant to be diagnosed with colon cancer. She talked, I cried, we walked and I cried. She gave me a few answers to a couple questions I had and helped me deal with my emotions. Without her empathy and understanding, I would have been a complete and total emotional wreck.

I have had the pleasure of working with Teresa for close to my entire career here at Clinton. Teresa demonstrates on a daily basis a compassion for caring for patients and co-workers like no one else I have worked with. She consistently goes above and beyond by coming in on her day off to help out when we have call-ins or busy days, to stepping up to help co-workers in all departments. I know that when I ask Teresa to help out that she will, and she will put forth 100% of her effort when doing so. Just today she was supposed to have PTO, but when another nurse called in sick Teresa responded to the text asking for help on the unit, and agreed to pick up part of the shift. She does this on a regular basis and she does it with a smile, a positive attitude, and never has an ill word to speak of anyone. She is the epitome of what we should all aspire to be as nurses. She is a team player who is willing to do whatever is necessary to provide quality care for her patients. I responded to a call light for one of Teresa's patients and when I asked the patient if I could help her, the patient simply said "where is Teresa?" I informed her that Teresa was with another patient at the moment, but that I would be glad to help her if that was OK. The patient and her daughter then realized that I was the house supervisor on for the day, and began raving about the care that they received and what a great nurse Teresa was. The patient had even called her daughter that morning and asked her to please make cookies to bring to Teresa and the rest of the staff because she was being discharged that day and she wanted to show her appreciation for the great care and service she had received. She was adamant that those cookies go to Teresa and that Teresa could share them with others. Part of what makes Teresa stand out is that she is not only an excellent nurse, she is an excellent co-worker. Luckily, Teresa has passed on her love of nursing to her daughter who recently passed her RN boards.
