Our dad, JC, came into the ER with breathing problems due to COVID, which exacerbated an underlying pulmonary condition. He was transferred to Sioux Falls, where he also had excellent care, and then was stable enough to return to Vermillion to be near family. Other family members flew in from New England.

We have all been welcomed and the nursing staff, CNAs, and all health professionals have been warm & supportive. Teresa, however, rose above the rest with her compassionate care, proactive guidance, and helpful suggestions.

When a nurse truly loves what he/she does, it has an amazing impact on patients and families. Teresa’s warm ways and reassuring words, and her willingness to listen and help has made all the difference for our family, especially when we were faced with the difficult decision to move our dad to Hospice Care. She was able to facilitate important conversations and passed along useful information with calmness & confidence, which greatly reassured our family, we highly recommend Teresa for the DAISY Award, and for any other commendation. She’s wonderful.

Rhonda is an amazing nurse who is just so caring and compassionate with her patients and family members. She impressed upon me her thorough competency with her nursing skills, but I will remember her for her interactions with me and my family. Rhonda has the heart to understand that family members need to be taken care of too, and she has made that abundantly apparent to me. There were several times during my father’s care when she spoke with me and my family outside of the presence of my father. She understands that family members need direction, and sometimes answers when a family member requires their support, concern, and compassion. Rhonda possesses all these qualities and leads with her heart. I have been hospitalized before, and if I were to require another stay, I would want to have Rhonda as my nurse and caregiver. Because she is so good at the human and emotional intelligence component of her job, that comes through the most. I will never forget the top care she gave to my father and the caring compassion in her kind eyes that my family and I experienced with Rhonda. She’s the best.
