I was admitted to the 6th floor on night shift due to some chest pain and had the honor of having Teresa Roberson as my nurse for the remainder of the evening. Although I have always thought highly of Teresa as a nurse, I was never able to fully appreciate it until this night. As she did my admission assessment, she talked to me like her family member and had genuine concern and worry on her face as we discussed things going on at home and how I was handling C being sick. At the end of our conversation, she asked if I had contacted my mother to let her know I was in the hospital, to which I replied, "she's already asleep, I will tell her tomorrow". Throughout the night, Teresa would continue to ask if I had spoken to my mother and even stopped back by my room that morning before leaving to remind me to call her. I told her I spoke with her, and she seemed to relax knowing that my mom was aware I was sick and in the hospital.

Fast forward a few weeks later, I ran into Teresa while registering for an outpatient procedure and she immediately stopped to check on me and asked that I update her with the results of my test because she was worried about me. They say nothing can replace a mother's love or presence, but honestly, Teresa's kindness and concern about me that night made me feel extremely comfortable just like my mother was there. Because of this, it is my honor to nominate a very deserving Teresa for this award.
