Teresa has been a nurse here almost as long as I have been alive. Currently, I work with her in cardiology and I'm amazed on a daily basis with her knowledge, empathy and team spirit! One of my favorite things about Teresa is that she remembers patients so well. She may have only cared for them once, many years ago but she immediately remembers them, their family and their story and picks up right where they left off. I hope to one day be as knowledgeable as Teresa but I strive every day to be as compassionate. Just by working alongside her, I know I've become a better nurse. Teresa exemplifies Sentara's safety habits. She continuously pays attention to detail. Her clear communication with patients and staff saves lives on a regular basis. A patient recently had an outpatient stress test scheduled. After speaking to the patient, Teresa felt that the patient should be evaluated by the cardiologist. The cardiologist agreed with Teresa's assessment and decided to proceed with a heart catheterization. The cath revealed multi-vessel disease that ultimately required a CABG. Her knowledge and skill places everyone at ease and improves patient outcomes on a regular basis. I have never worked with a better wingman!
