The little details mattered and I cannot begin to explain how caring she was throughout the whole process!
There is truly not enough that can ever be said about the appreciation I have for Teresa. Being a first time mom, I didn't quite know what to expect for Labor and Delivery. That is where Teresa stepped in and went above and beyond every step of the way. From shift change until the end of her shift, Teresa made my labor and birth one I will never forget. She was beyond kind and compassionate to me, my family, and my fiancé. She went above and beyond for my pre-delivery care and explained everything in detail, so I felt comfortable making the tough decisions. Teresa made sure I was as comfortable as I could be and made sure I had everything I needed and wanted, from a fan to an ice pack, birthing ball, or cold wash rag. The little details mattered and I cannot begin to explain how caring she was throughout the whole process!
When the time came for the critical decision for medicine and an epidural, she was supportive and loving and helped me every step of the way. When my fiance couldn't hold my hand during the epidural, Teresa did. When it came to cervical checks and when my water broke--she took her time and did the checks ever so gently to avoid unnecessary pain. Her upbeat attitude, positivity, and sense of humor made our day full of smiles and made it go much quicker than anticipated.
Unfortunately, shift change came and went, and Teresa was unable to be there for our child's birth. Before leaving for the day, Teresa came into our room and let us know she would be lead nurse the following day and would make sure she stopped in to see us, gave us hugs, told us to stay positive, and before we knew it our little one would be here. True to her word, the following day, she stopped in to check on us. Her dedication to her patients, their well-being and happiness is far from unnoticed. Her strength in helping make her patients comfortable is beyond appreciated.
If all nurses were like Teresa, this world would be a remarkable place. Her honesty, compassion, and loving nature make her deserving of a DAISY award! She is an amazing person and will be a part of our birthing story forever, we are beyond thankful!
