Recently I had the opportunity to work with Teresa during a difficult situation involving a patient with PTSD - the patient had a Radiology procedure and there was no nurse present in the department. Teresa worked with the patient to ensure she was safe while awaiting transportation home. She displayed calmness and support for this lady during tremendously difficult situation.
In her role as Associate Health RN Teresa facilitates the care of colleagues injured at work. There was a recent situation involving a colleague who injured her back while assisting with moving a patient. The colleague was concerned about her job and when she did return to work she was on light duty Teresa spent a great deal of time with this colleague one-on-one to ensure her safety, as well as, reassuring her and assisting her through the Workman's Comp process that is difficult to navigate. This colleague came to talk with me after she was released. She expressed her sincere appreciation for Teresa's kindness and support through tears of gratitude. Teresa has a very kind, nonjudgmental way of handling difficult situations.
Teresa displays a true DAISY attitude every day and with every intervention there is intent to protect patients and colleagues. I am honored to work with her and continuously amazed at the steps she takes to make someone else's day or outcome better, even a little better is important to her.
