Teresita was the healing presence that I needed to help put me at ease.
I have been a nurse for over thirty years, however, two weeks ago, I became a patient. I was experiencing shortness of breath, tachycardia, weakness, and dehydration. I felt as though my heart would jump out of my chest. After having a syncopal episode due to a vaso-vagal response while still in the emergency room, I needed to be admitted for further testing. I was anxious, tired, and I'll admit, a little scared.

Once I arrived at my room, I was met with an angel on earth. Her name is Teresita and I am certain it was divine order that she would be my nurse for the night. Teresita met me with the warmest smile, softest, and most reassuring voice I had heard all day. Teresita showed genuine concern and kindness for me. I was diagnosed with a GI bleed and Teresita kept me informed of the plan of care as she knew it. She provided updates as they came and explained all medications to me, informing me of the potential side effects. After administering my first unit of blood and observing me during the first 15 min of the transfusion, she sat with me. Teresita was the healing presence that I needed to help put me at ease.

I am grateful that my hospital stay was short, but however, I will never forget it, nor forget the care that I received. I just want the nursing administration to know what a gem they have with Teresita. Most of all, I want Teresita to know that her work is not in vain. Teresita, I am certain there are many, many, many patients whose lives you have touched by being the wonderful, knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and caring nurse you are. I believe that God sees your heart and I pray that you receive blessings upon blessings for the work that you do. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
