Terra was going home after working a 12-hour shift. As she was driving down the road, she spotted a young boy waving his arms on the side of the road. She stopped, rolled down her window and asked what he needed. At that point, he yelled that his dad needed help, and that's when Terra saw a man lying face down on the side of the road. She parked and ran to the man's side. She yelled for the young boy to call 911.
As Terra rolled the man over she noticed he was not breathing. She immediately started compressions. The man's face was completely covered with blood, so she made the determination that she could do compressions only. Soon after she started compressions the man started to breathe on his own. Police and EMS were on the scene shortly and took control over the situation. Terra said that she noticed that the vehicle in front of her did not stop for the boy waiving his hands. This day and age it's scary stopping for people on the side of the road, but Terra jumped into the unknown situation without hesitation.

Thank you, Terra, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
