Terri saw this and showed a tremendous amount of empathy and compassion, truly caring for him in a way we all wish we would be cared for if we were hospitalized.
Terri had a patient that would soon be changing to hospice care. This patient had recently lost his own dog. He was requesting a pet (dog) visit, though obviously was unable to see his own. Terri went the extra mile and obtained vet records for her own dog. Once this was obtained, they were able to have their family schedule a visit for their pet to be brought in. This allowed this patient's wish to become a reality.

Terri made it her mission to go through all the steps in order to cheer up a patient who was not doing well. This patient wanted to see his dog, however, his dog had, sadly, passed. He was full of anxiety and needed comforting in a major way. Terri saw this and showed a tremendous amount of empathy and compassion, truly caring for him in a way we all wish we would be cared for if we were hospitalized. While caring for 3 other patients in addition to this patient, Terri contacted her own veterinarian in order to verify their dog was fit to come to the hospital to see patients and completed the necessary paperwork. Once this was done, Terri spoke with the shift coordinator to set up a time, and before we knew it, Terri’s dog came strolling down the hall. The joy on the patient's face, Terri’s face, and even Terri’s pup's face, along with her wagging tail, was absolutely heartwarming. Terri is the ultimate patient advocate.
Note: This is Terri's 2nd DAISY Award!
