She was the first nurse I saw during my five-day stay in the IMC. She made me feel safe and secure even when the doctors were still unsure of what was wrong with me.

I am not in the hospital often. In fact, in my 59 years of life, this was my first hospital admittance for something other than childbirth. She even came in to see how I was doing, despite the fact that she was scheduled to work on another floor.

Even though all of the nurses have been kind and efficient, it was nice to see the friendly face of someone who was familiar with my case. What really impressed me was the fact that she came to see me.

It is those special moments that can make a difference between treating a condition and treating a patient.
