January 2013 Honoree
tess fareri, RN, BSN
I cannot in just a few words describe how wonderful Tess has been in helping our family through a very difficult situation. My granddaughter has been at PCH for almost 8 weeks now and Tess has been with us from the beginning. Her genuine care for my granddaughter has been evident from the very start of our journey. She has always been patient in her explanations about procedures, drugs, and just everything that has been associated with my granddaughters care. Our entire family has been treated with respect and kindness from Tess. She has made our very hard situation a bit easier because of her caring and competent manner.
The situation that stands out the most is when my granddaughter coded for the first time. During an extremely frightening time for our family Tess kept calm and calmed us all while keeping my precious granddaughter alive. She was quick to inform co-workers that there was a potential problem, which ultimately saved her life. After the event was over she spent time with all of us explaining everything that had happened. She answered all of our questions and most importantly to us, she grew to love our granddaughter. PCH should be very proud to have her on staff; she is an asset to your institution.
