Tess goes above and beyond, makes special connections, collaborates to effect change, generates enthusiasm and positive energy, and serves as a role model. 
Tess is truly the epitome of what nursing is and should be. She is the embodiment of compassion matched with a wealth of knowledge that prepares her for almost anything. Tess likes to say, “if you are ready you won’t need it, but if you are not that is when trouble happens.” Trouble this night just so happened to be something other than a baby being born with complications. 
By chance or by some greater intervention, Tess rounded the corner and noticed a fellow nurse leaning against the wall holding her head. It turned out that this nurse needed help urgently and she found it in just the right moment--through Tess. Tess was there just in time and just within distance to guide her safely to the floor, calling for help until the other staff and code team were there to securely transport her to the next level of care. Tess never left the nurse’s side, giving simply genuine care to her nurse in need and until she knew her nurse was in the right hands. She truly was an angel for that nurse and for our unit that day.
