Theresa provides compassionate care with all of her patients including other patients who are on the nursing unit. Theresa baked a cake for a patient who had been in the hospital for a couple of weeks. She asked the patient what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday and made it. On the patient's birthday, Theresa gathered all of the staff at the nurse's station to sing Happy Birthday to the patient and gave him the cake!
Theresa serves as a preceptor and charge nurse for the nursing unit. She continues to be a mentor to the new employees even when the orientation is completed. She checks in on them and offers assistance when anyone new is working on the floor. Theresa jumps right in whenever a patient is deteriorating. Any new admission to the unit can be stressful especially at change of shift, but Theresa will jump in so that no one is left alone with the new admit process. Her teamwork exuberates to the whole team and therefore, the entire team practices the same work ethic.
During the pandemic, Theresa has learned how to make face masks and caps. She always tries to come up with a design that will assist her team in providing comfort even when the masks start to hurt everyone's ears!
