I was the charge nurse in the Emergency Department when a 5-day-old infant arrived with hypothermia. We needed to quickly place the baby in an infant warmer and perform a variety of tests. I called the charge nurse in the NICU and asked if someone could place an IV and troubleshoot the ED infant warmer. Theresa Lennon, RN quickly arrived in the ED. Theresa's contribution to the event was beyond measure. She inspected our infant warmer, determined it wasn't working properly, then obtained an infant warmer from the NICU with all necessary equipment. She placed an IV, drew labs, and performed or assisted with all other ordered tasks. She obtained equipment from her department that facilitated patient care.
Theresa was helpful, encouraging, compassionate, and a huge resource to our department. We were blessed to work side by side with Theresa during this event.
