An extremely distraught, fearful and combatant patient was admitted and would not allow anyone to touch her without screaming. Suddenly, I heard a soft, calm, reassuring voice reassuring the patient to trust her. I was very impressed when Theresa eventually earned the patient's trust and the patient was able to communicate with Theresa the necessary information to receive the appropriate treatment for her care.
Theresa stayed with this patient as often as possible well into the next day. This allowed the CNA's and nurses to attend to this patient's needs by her becoming less agitated and more trustful whenever someone touched her.
Theresa's compassion was Above and Beyond. She truly is an Earthly Angel.
