Her presence brings security and reassurance to her patients, and her legacy precedes her! She is one of a kind. A true pillar of this amazing medical community.
Theresa is not only one of a kind but also a pillar in the UHN and transplant medical community. As a patient, I have had the honour to call her my nurse coordinator and a member of my medical team. However, there is not a day I have not seen her and heard of her impact to each patient, and every colleague. Theresa has been with UHN for well over 30 years. I have personally felt safe, supported, and empowered with her as my nurse. Allowing my long-winded concerns to be heard, my laughs to be revived, and my tears to have a place to fall. She has gone above and beyond in ensure my life is always worth fighting for, and as a medically complex patient, empowering me in my knowledge and direction of care. On the other side, I have also seen her interact with colleagues and other patients. As she walks away, you hear the whispers of “she is so amazing”, “I knew she would help”, and “Theresa always knows!”, to mention a few. Her presence brings security and reassurance to her patients, and her legacy precedes her! She is one of a kind. A true pillar of this amazing medical community. The reality is I cannot express, without tears running down my face, the gratitude I have for years of care from this amazing woman. As a patient, in my most vulnerable times and times of celebration, Theresa has stood by my side and given me strength, hope, and help at every turn. She is the embodiment of outstanding healthcare, legacy, and what I believe is a true healthcare hero. She is more deserving of this award for her lifetime dedication, and I know I do not speak alone. As anyone you ask from UHN as patients or colleagues, will share of moments she has impacted their lives. Please consider her for this award, as she is truly one of the unseen heroes dedicating countless hours and years to helping patients like me stay alive.
