I received a call from a veteran and unfortunately, the veteran didn't have legs nor could he see (Anophthalmia) because he was in terrible explosion while working over-seas. The patient had recently moved to the area and was having difficulty getting to/from our VA facility. I got the veterans information and told him that we would get him some help. I then contacted Theresa Mont who made several attempts to help the patient. She spoke to several professionals at this facility. She finally was able to get assistance with a social worker who helped her get the patient assistance with the Veterans Transportation Services (VTS). She then collaborated with several departments in the organization and got the patient several appointments on the same day while VTS picked the patient up and started his visit at the primary care office while his last appointment was with the GI clinic. She ensured that the veteran had assistance throughout his entire visit. The veteran later called me and told me that this was the best service he ever had at any facility. I was so touched by his gratitude for his experience and Theresa's commitment to serve that I had to write this letter of appreciation.
