Theresa embodies a caring, compassionate, and patient-centered nurse, every day. The patient's and family members that remark on her caring approach during leadership rounds are endless. Theresa will always do what is right for the patient, even it means using her personal time.
For example, we had a patient that was on the unit for a long time and she really wanted to go to church. Theresa came in on her day off and took her to church.
Additionally, we had a patient getting married on the unit. The wedding happened a day early due to his medical condition and Theresa came in on her day off to help decorate and celebrate.
Theresa not only cares for the patients this passionately, but she also takes time to care for the staff as well. She initiated and maintains an employee recognition program and has tea-time and refreshments to lift staff spirits and help keep us hydrated. Her positivity is infectious, and her presence always elevates the mood of her patients and co-workers. Theresa is always giving to others, selflessly and completely. This is why she is a true DAISY Nurse.
