I am recognizing Therese because of the care I received when she was on duty. It began when I still had a chest tube inserted after a lung biopsy. Therese shared that she had experienced a chest tube herself previously and knew the pain I was feeling. She went out of her way to help with monitoring the pain. She was also present when I got the chest tube removed making sure that I was okay. Later, when I hit the call button because I was feeling dizzy and nauseous, she immediately came in enough time to get a receptacle on me without being called for. Besides her scheduled rounds, she checked on me without being called for. She was helpful, pleasant, and very dedicated to her work. All these attributes made me, as a patient, very comfortable in spite of my pain and fear. She was very knowledgeable, answering all my questions, and would follow up immediately by calling doctors in order to get permission to change and administer medications, change meals, etc. This competent nurse made a meaningful impact on my care.
