Tom has been such an inspiration to me as a leader. Not only is he kind and fair in his guidance, but he does what he can to spur others in their leadership. As I transitioned from charge nurse to supervisor and would ask questions, he would respond with "what would you do if you couldn't get ahold of me?" and while it was annoying at times, it really did encourage me to start thinking, and making decisions on my own. I have truly grown under his leadership, and have absolutely loved watching him grow as well. He has taken this unit from a vacancy rate in the 70th percentile, and dropped that to the 30th percentile, because he advocates, reaches out, talks to, brags about, and encourages others. He is always eager to give credit to someone else for something he has done and finds ways to encourage and recognize people every single day. He is always available for questions, and I am so glad that I am learning how to be a manager under his leadership. He is a strong and supportive leader, and I know he will 100% always have my back.
