Thomas Hankins, RN

Thomas Hankins has worked at GBMC for years. He initially worked in the ED and then transitioned to IR later in his career. As a team member, Tom is calm, cool, and collected. Recently, we had a patient who came to IR for repeated chemo LP's. Tom took the time to learn the patient's hobbies and interests. It turns out the patient loved magic, so Tom went home and looked up a magic trick to show the patient on his next visit. While waiting for his procedure every week, the patient would show Tom magic tricks. The patient was an accomplished magician but appreciated Tom's effort. When the patient first started coming to IR, he was reserved and rarely smiled; however, Tom changed all that with his kindness and genuine compassion for his patients.
