Tom is an exceptionally compassionate nurse. He has a way of bonding with his patients and making them feel at ease while critically ill in the CCU. Patients will brag about Tom's wonderful sense of humor that helps keep their spirits up, and they ask for him and miss him when he has a few days off. He goes above and beyond by taking extra time with patients, for example giving them a haircut. Of all the nurses our long-term patients encounter during their stays, Tom seems to be the one that is most visited by patients after discharge. He truly makes a difference in the lives of both patients and their families by emotionally supporting them either through an illness to recovery or by being by their side as they peacefully succumb to their illness.
