My husband had his first chemo treatment and four days later we noticed that his suprapubic catheter was not draining. I flushed it numerous times at home with no success. He was admitted to TGH later that evening for other reasons. All the urine was coming out of the insertion site, and he was having frequent bladder spasms. This went on from Wednesday through Thursday night and he stayed saturated with urine. The staff was adding absorbent pads to his abdomen.

Thuan worked Thursday night. She saw the issues and immediately addressed the problem. There was cellular debris trapped in the valve of the tubing. She unplugged the tubing successfully and returned throughout the night to check. Her extra efforts and caring made all the difference for my husband. She is the type of nurse that everyone would hope to take care of their loved ones.
