We had a patient who had been on our unit for a long time. She was the age of most of our children. She was very ill and it became apparent that she would not get better. There were many talks between Palliative Care and the patient and her family. All of the nursing staff had strong opinions and wanted to support the patient's wishes.
When the patient started declining and became a DNR, Tiara took over her care. The patient's mother was unable to be here at the end, but Tiara worked with the patient's sister and provided extraordinary care to her. Tiara made sure the patient was as comfortable as possible. Afterward, Tiara helped organize a keepsake activity for everyone that grew close to the patient to write their names on for the patient's 4-year-old son. I was so impressed with Tiara's care of this patient and would be honored if she took care of my family.
