When my labor started progressing rapidly, she was a literal shoulder to cry on and an arm to squeeze during contractions.
“Our journey with Tierney Rojas as our nurse has two parts. The first was when I went into preterm labor at 28 weeks pregnant. While this is concerning for any pregnant patient, this was extra concerning as CentraState is not equipped to deliver that preterm of an infant. However, Tierney was always calm and efficient. She never alarmed us or let us know the "behind the scenes" stress and rapid phone calls that were being made. She initiated transfer and went out of her way to find other units in the hospital who knew how to expeditiously transfer patients. It wasn't until we got to the tertiary care center that we realized how rapid my labor had progressed and how close we were to delivery due to the support and calmness Tierney supplied. Additionally, it was not until after the admission that I found out the extra work Tierney did to improve my care.

After I was discharged, she was part of a case review to improve efficiency and responsiveness of physicians who had delayed my care. She sought to improve the quality of care at CentraState, so others did not have to experience the negative impact in the future. The second part of our story continues at 35 weeks pregnant. After 7 weeks of bedrest, my water finally broke and delivery was imminent. Fortunately for us, Tierney was working that day and able to assist us with the delivery of our child. She continued to provide a kindness mixed with humor and support the entire labor. She was able to think ahead to ensure everything was aligned to receive timely pain control. When my labor started progressing rapidly, she was a literal shoulder to cry on and an arm to squeeze during contractions. She provided education and differing positions to us to help expedite the labor process. Tierney became a critical part of my birthing team. She was always a supportive coach, an educated teacher, a fierce advocate, and a trusting friend through the entire process. She went above and beyond to bring our 7-week journey to a happy ending.”
