Professor Williams has gone above and beyond to help me in any type of situation. She makes me feel welcomed and understood as a new nursing student. I can comfortably reach out to her with anything, even topics that aren't related just to the class. I have reached out to her during week two or week three of the semester after the anatomy department changed the due dates on the majority of the assignments, and she understood my frustration with the situation. She helped me re-pace myself and organize which assignments get done first. After my first exam results were finalized which, I was quite nervous about, Professor Williams sent me a private message on canvas telling me I deserved the score I got and that she was very proud of me and my work. It seems small, but with all the stress I was experiencing at the time it felt like a huge relief and she made me feel seen and recognized. Professor Williams is also extremely passionate about what she teaches and the way she explains subjects makes it obvious. She goes out of her way to make sure no student feels like they are asking a “dumb question” and wants to get to know us despite being on Zoom and not seeing us in person. It’s not one specific instance that inspired me to nominate Professor Williams. It's every class and office hour she has spent instructing us as her students. She is inspirational with her career and experience. I always look forward to her class because she demonstrates the best bedside manner. She includes us all and makes sure to help as much as she can if someone is having a hard time with the material. I find it very encouraging to finish my week with her class and it pushes me to move forward. Nursing school is no walk in the park, though not impossible. The difference between both is professors like Professor Williams that make school both fun, passionate, and inspirational.
