As the Director of Professional Development, Tiffany Epting has worked tirelessly over the past year in the integration of northern tier hospitals into the nursing internships, nurse residency program and preceptor courses; managing the Nurse Residency Program (NRP) accreditation process which achieved accreditation with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in December 2018 and standardizing practices and work for all professional development teams.
Tiffany knew the major challenge facing the Department of Education was the integration and standardization of practices in all Lehigh Valley Health Network locations. She also realized that bringing change to the other sites would not occur successfully without first building relationships of trust, mutual respect, and mutual benefit. To do this, Tiffany took her "show on the road," making regular trips to all locations to meet with the education department colleagues, local nursing leadership, and human resources. She built relationships and began saying "YES" to all requests for more programs and services at the northern tier locations.
Tiffany is a positive, optimistic, and engaged leader. She believes in the NRP and wants to contribute to the success of each new registered nurse who passes through the program. A facilitator in the program for many years, she understands and supports the transition into practice, wanting every new nurse to have a successful start to their career. To make the accreditation a success, Tiffany needed to reassign work and ask her team to perform above and beyond when the accreditation cycle fell off schedule. Her team rallied and did so willingly, as they respect, admire, and believe in Tiffany's leadership. Her faith in them and their faith in her made the seemingly impossible become not only possible but possible with distinction!
Working long hours, traveling to all locations, being present in all areas she covers, and with an open office door that welcomes all, Tiffany is known to listen, really listen, and help colleagues and nurse residents find their way. Through her sound advice, compassion, and attentiveness, colleagues feel better as they leave the office, being glad they stopped by.
