Tiffany Soden, RN
Back in 2024, I was diagnosed with PTSD after enduring prolonged domestic violence. I had already been diagnosed with bipolar 1 for many years, but due to the additional stress and job loss, I ended up falling into manic psychosis. I went to a psych ward and was placed on a stay of commitment, but my psychosis persisted.
About two weeks later, I was back in the hospital, only this time my grandpa brought me here. My trust towards health care employees was very low. I was screaming and making quite a fuss in the ER and perceived all of the nurses as unkind and felt threatened. I screamed and wouldn't be still until they had to pull everything out of the room and left me with just a bed.
At that point, I knew where I was going. I was so upset. But then Tiffany Soden sat outside my door. She showed pictures of her dogs and treated me like a human being. My walls came down, and I finally sat and cried. She gave me a hot dinner even though the cafeteria was closed. It had been the first time I felt kindness in a while. Every once in a while, my family and I will talk about the nurse named Tiffany who sat outside my room that day. I never got to say thank you.
