Tiffany Tschinkel was the calming and informative force that kept us in the right state of mind while we waited for the call from the operating room
My husband was a patient on 5 South. He has a long history of complicated surgeries, and this past surgery was no exception. His doctor called our house on and instructed him to get to the emergency room to meet with a surgeon for emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder. Once a room became available on the floor, he was moved from the emergency room to 5 South. “Emergency” surgery didn’t actually happen until the next afternoon.
Tiffany Tschinkel was the calming and informative force that kept us in the right state of mind while we waited for the call from the operating room. Unfortunately, my husband was unable to have his gallbladder laparoscopically removed, which, of course, meant more pain and a longer recovery period. Tiffany was attentive, did everything she could to keep him comfortable, and stuck her head in our room almost every time she passed by. Tiffany made a not-very-pleasant situation much more bearable for both of us. She explained the medication she was administering, made sure that we were both informed about my husband's progress, and made him feel like he was her only patient. 5 South was packed with patients constantly coming up from the emergency room and other locations. Tiffany never batted an eye, even though we’re sure she must have been exhausted. She was cool, calm, and collected at all times, whereas many other nurses, techs, and others may not have kept their composure. Tiffany is a true professional who deserves recognition for handling her patients with respect and loving care. We’re grateful that she was there, and there’s no doubt that her other patients feel the same way. Thank you!
