Tim's selflessness and willingness to come and support the IU Jay team shows not just one but all of the PETALS principles.

On 11/28, the IU Jay Nursing team lost one of their own nurses. This was a traumatic experience for both the Med-Surg and ED, as she had worked on both units. Staff on both units were grieving and still caring for their patients. Leadership at Jay reached out to Ball leadership asking for help so the IU Jay staff could grieve appropriately and still care for their patients. Ball leadership was able to arrange for two resource nurses to come help. At the charge nurse meeting, the AA asked if anyone would be willing to come to Jay to help on either Med-Surg or the ED. Without hesitation, Tim Gant offered to come and work in the ED for the whole night shift. Tim was actually in charge of the ED and arranged for himself to come over. Once Tim arrived, the ED nurses were able to step away from the unit to have time to grieve. The Med-Surg unit was also very busy on this night. Tim coming to Jay allowed the ED nurses to go up to Med-Surg and help them care for their patients. It also allowed them to reflect and grieve with the Med-Surg nurses, who also worked with "C." Tim's selflessness and willingness to come and support the IU Jay team shows not just one but all of the PETALS principles. Tim is a true asset to the IU Health team and deserves to be recognized. At this time, "C" was IU Jay's most recent DAISY Award winner. I think it's fitting for Tim to be considered for the same award, as he showed many of the same attributes that "C" exemplified.
