Float Pool - ICU
St. Louis Children's Hospital
Tim went out and got cupcakes, a few balloons, and party hats to celebrate this patient’s 1st birthday. He gathered up the stat nurses, leadership, a few other float pool friends and we all sang happy birthday to the patient.
Going above and beyond to help make a patient experience the best it could be while admitted.
Tim was working on 7400, the observation unit one day when he noticed that his patient's 1st birthday was the next day. Being a 23-hour observation unit and knowing that he would be taking care of them the next day, Tim went out and got cupcakes, a few balloons, and party hats to celebrate this patient's 1st birthday. He gathered up the stat nurses, leadership, a few other float pool friends and we all sang happy birthday to the patient. He even got a highchair for him so that he could do his first smash cake, but took the extra step to cover the IV so that it didn't get cake all of his IV. While many kids have their 1st birthday in the hospital it's not every day that they get a nurse as kind as Tim who makes sure that after his already long shift that he stops by the store just to make a birthday special for the patient and mother. The mom was beyond thankful for the experience and that the patient's birthday didn't just get glossed over!
Tim is an amazing nurse and we all know this but we all joked that he was going to get a good reputation after this! (he is secretly loved by many!)
Thank you Tim for going above and beyond for your patient and making this a birthday that they will remember forever! We are so lucky to work with a person like you!
