Tim Smith provides exceptional care and displays tremendous compassion to those whose lives are touched by his awesome spirit. While caring for a patient on his unit, Tim realized that the patient was his little league baseball coach. During the time Tim was caring for him, he discovered that his coach had lost all of the precious keepsakes of his baseball career in a house fire several years back. With a diagnosis of cancer, the patient was transferred to our Oncology unit for further care and treatment. After about a week of feeling heartbroken about the plight of his patient, Tim went home and pulled out his photo album and found a picture of his patient/coach with his little league team. Tim had the picture restored and framed and went to the Oncology unit and presented it to the patient and his wife. The patient cried tears of joy and thanked Tim for giving him a piece of memory to hold onto.

Tim quietly went along his way, never saying anything to anyone. It was long afterward that his Director discovered the wonderful deed from a caring heart and nominated him for the DAISY Award. Thank you Tim for bringing incredible joy to such a sick patient. We are proud to have you on our team.
